This is me relaxing in my downtime

Brad Harris

Combining a life of photography with a writer’s mind, I enjoy the freedom and space that film gives to tell and build a story.

Using a cinema-grade full-frame, 4k Sony FX9 and mirrorless cameras with top-end prime lenses, stabilised gimbals and drones and dedicated sound recording gear, I can create a clip that will speak volumes for you, in the newest medium that people expect to be able to access. From simple website intros to full commercial and corporate productions, I can assemble an appropriate team to deliver what you need.

I have been working as a full-time professional photographer since 1990. In 1995 I completed a 3-year course at Canberra Institute of Technology, gaining an Associate Diploma of Arts in Photography, and was selected in the top ten graduating students Australia-wide.

In 2002, after 12 years at a studio in Cooma NSW (my home-town) and having shot over 300 weddings and thousands of portraits, I struck out on my own. I worked for many years as staff-photographer, writer and pre-press manager for the acclaimed FlyLife fly fishing magazine.

My work philosophy is to enjoy and give each job 100%. I'm aiming to earn a living doing something I love, not build an empire. Even now, after 30 years, I still can’t wait to start shooting each day and don’t want to stop at the end of the day!

Over many years I’ve shot just about everything: commercial, portraits, corporate, industrial, architecture, cars, performance, editorial... you name it, I've probably done it. Being an “outdoorsy-type” means I am entirely comfortable in uncomfortable situations, whether 70m up a giant gum tree or down a ravine wading through a river.

In my teens I flew fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters and in my 20’s I was one of the top radio-control pilots in Australia, so flying drones is a natural addition to cinematography — a skilled pilot who knows where to place the drone for light and composition.

I live in inner-city Hobart with my wife Lilly and son Marsden. I’m happy to travel across Tasmania and Australia.
